The Foundation for Learning and Literacy is concerned with the role literacy plays in ensuring our children become compassionate, confident, competent and creative citizens in an increasingly complex world.
Initiated by educators, the Foundation for Learning and Literacy offer a fresh voice of collective expertise to draw upon for leaders and teachers in schools, the students and families they serve and other interested community members.
The Foundation provides information about relevant research and classroom practices that establishes an evidence base for effective literacy teaching and learning. Our aim is to support teachers and parents who work every day with children to give them the power, the joy and the skills of reading and writing. The Foundation’s resources will also be of interest to anyone concerned with educational policy making, including politicians, business and the media.
The Foundation has developed Touchstones for effective literacy teaching and learning. They are supported by research, and classroom success.
If you agree with our Touchstones become a Friend of the Foundation.
As well as becoming a friend of the Foundation you can also make a donation.
The Foundation for Learning and Literacy regularly partners with other professional associations to advocate for the importance of literature in our lives and in literacy learning. From 2022-2024 the Foundation has led the production of a range of videos for the Literature Symposium.
The Foundation for Literacy and Learning acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
