Symposium 2024
In 2024, the Foundation for Learning and Literacy partnered with organisations across Australia's literacy, education, and drama sectors to present the Literature Symposium, with the theme We All Like a Good Story.
This series celebrates the power and pleasure of First Nations stories and literature, with contributions exploring arts-rich literacy strategies, bilingual and bicultural learning, community storytelling, and ways of engaging students in rural and remote communities with reading.
Presenters from partner organisations — including the Australian Council of TESOL Associations, PETAA, Westwords, the Copyright Agency, the Australian School Library Association, and the Australian Literacy Educators' Association, among others — shared video presentations and podcasts on topics ranging from decolonising literacy practice to embedding First Nations authored resources into the classroom.
Below you'll find the full collection of talks from the 2024 symposium, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives on the role literature plays in learning, culture, and community.
