This blog post reports on the findings from a survey conducted by Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA). Responses were received from 500 educators working in primary English across systems, sectors and contexts. Several findings are shared in the post including the widespread use of explicit, teacher-led reading instruction questioning claims that reading instruction in Australia lacks rigour or consistency. Major findings are reported along with a call to listen and act. A quick worthwhile read for teachers and parents.
