These days there are a lot of eye-catching, high interest informational sources available to our students. And yet, despite their initial interest, many students only engage with these texts at a superficial level. They can recall a few basic facts but not key details and main ideas.

In response, we’ve spent the last two years exploring how to help our students engage more fully with informational texts and would like to share what we have gleaned from this journey.
