In 1998, eight Australian universities and the National Library of Australia began planning an Australian Literature Subject Gateway, to replace the long-running AUSTLIT database and to house a range of bibliographical and data-gathering projects. From September 2021, celebrate twenty years with AustLit, as they launch a digital history of the database and more.
AustLit is an excellent resource for teachers and students, at Primary and Secondary schools, or Universities and TAFE. Use AustLit to explore the many ways Australians tell, retell, and think about stories.
